What does the Community History team do?

Community History maintains the Local History, Family History and Museum and Social History Collections and the Lake Macquarie History website. We offer outreach services to local schools and community groups, as well as assisting residents and visitors with research enquiries.

We also create exhibitions for SEEN@Swansea, Lake Mac Libraries and Rathmines Heritage Centre, and support local historical societies and museums with collection management and training initiatives.

What resources does Community History offer?

We have online and print resources to help you with your research. Historic photos, maps, documents, oral history recordings and local history stories can be found here.

Visit the Speers Point Library branch to use the local history reference collection or search the online library catalogue to find out more about the resources we hold before visiting.
