"Organic" sculptures and Zoo Animals.
Students studying Year 9 Ceramics at Warners Bay high School attended an excursion to Taronga Zoo. Students were asked to photograph and draw the animals and on returning to the classroom use these images to create an animal sculpture.
Students explored 3D ceramic hand building techniques, focusing on form, shape, texture and surface treatments to resolve their ceramic work.
Year 10 Ceramics students’ task was to use nature and the organic world as inspiration to create a ceramic work. Students looked at a wide variety of contemporary ceramicists and their practice and explored form, shape, texture and surface treatments.
Students were also required to produce a Critical and Historical assessment task on a Ceramic artist of their choice whose work linked with their own ceramic practice.
