Nature in all its glory is what draws the artistic eye. The way light falls over a flower or catches the reflection in the eye of a bird is amazing. Trying to capture that light and make the subject glow with life is what inspires the creation of the pieces.
About the Artist
Kathy Jennings is a Lake Macquarie based artist who is inspired by the natural beauty of the region. Specialising in soft pastels and applying a realism approach to her art, the pastels add a richness to the image and creates an illusion of depth to the piece.
The play of light across a petal or the reflection in the eye of a bird inspires Kathy to attempt to capture that light. Without light there is only darkness and it is in this light that the world comes alive.
In her downtime, Kathy also creates quirky mixed media pieces of animals for kids bedrooms to inspire colour development in children.
