Looking for something to do during the school holidays? Lake Mac Libraries have heaps of fun activities and events for all ages. Bookings are essential for all activities.

Summer Reading Club

Expand your world at Lake Mac Libraries and win awesome prizes with our 2018 Summer Reading Club!

It's now even easier for children aged 0-16 years to join in the fun. Simply drop into your local Lake Mac Libraries branch during December and pick up your free Summer Reading Club starter pack.

Each time a child uses their own library card in January 2018 they will go into our weekly prize draw and have to chance to win awesome prizes including; book packs, LEGO kits and more! 

Hands On Workshops

  • Ozobots: Coding for Kids - Discover the world of coding using Ozobots. This workshop is aimed at absolute beginners who would like to try coding. Suitable for ages 8-12 yrs. - SOLD OUT


Special Events

  • Pirate School - Calling all scurvy dogs! Bring your best-mate and get ye schooled in the arts of treasure hunting, pirate storytelling, and jig-a-jig jigging. Suitable for ages 4-8yrs.
  • Planetarium - Learn about the wonders of the universe, surrounded by thousands of stars, as an awe-inspiring realistic night sky is projected around you within the planetarium dome. Presented by Skyworks Planetarium. Suitable for ages 6yrs+. - SOLD OUT
  • Digby and the Yodelayhee… Who? Meet the author - Join author Renee Price for a special storytime with puppets and songs, based on her latest book Digby and the Yodelayhee… Who? Suitable for ages 3-8 yrs.
  • Harry Potter Trivia - Calling all Harry Potter fans! Test your knowledge of all things Harry Potter with trivia and games for muggles. Suitable for ages 8-12 yrs.
  • Insight into Snakessss - Kids, would you know what to do if you found a snake? Reptile rescuer, Teresa Purnell, will answer that question and more during this insightful discussion on snakes. Suitable for ages 6yrs+.
  • JD’s World of Magic - Fun for the whole family! Be amazed by award winning magician Joel Howlett at his all new show. Suitable for all ages. Adults attending at children's prices. Suitable for all ages. - SOLD OUT
  • Discovering Dinos to Dodos - Join us as we explore the Dinos to Dodos exhibition to discover which dinosaurs roamed Australia , then it’s time for some prehistoric fun with dino games and craft. Suitable for ages 6 -10 yrs

Storytimes

  • The Chalk Rainbow: meet the author - Join us for stories, songs and craft at a special storytime with author Deborah Kelly, as she reads her new picture book The Chalk Rainbow. Suitable for ages 3-7yrs. - SOLD OUT
  • Seaside Storytime - Come along to Windale Library and join in the fun with seaside stories, songs and craft. Suitable for children 3-5 yrs.
  • Dinosaur Roar Storytime - Join us for a roaring good time with stories, games and craft. Suitable for ages 2-6yrs - SOLD OUT
  • Superhero Storytime - Dress as your favourite superhero and join in the fun with stories, games and craft. Suitable for ages 2-6yrs. - SOLD OUT
  • Beach Fun Storytime - Join the summertime fun with stories, songs and craft. Suitable for ages 2-6yrs.

Craft Activities

  • Lantern Making Workshop - Families are invited to create a floating lantern which will be a part of the Maitland Riverlights Multicultural Festival on Saturday 10 February. All materials and instructions are supplied. Suitable for all ages. - SOLD OUT
  • Marble Mazes - Create your own marble maze game using recycled materials. Suitable for ages 5yrs+. - SOLD OUT
  • Crafty Kids: paddle pop stick craft - Create your own pet tortoise or a spinning ballerina using paddle pop sticks. Suitable for ages 5yrs+.
