APS Hunter Regional Poetry Slam Final


Hosted by Emily Crocker and presented as part of the National Young Writer's Festival on 3 October at Warners Bay Theatre to a live audience, get ready for some fast paced performances. The winners are chosen by the audience so plenty of fun and interaction guaranteed!

The Rules:

  • 2 mins max.
  • Original works only.
  • If there’s a tie, you’ll need a separate poem.
  • No props, just you!

  • Hand sanitiser will be onsite and we will clean the mic in between poets.
  • 1.5 metres between people.
  • Don't come if you are sick.
  • This event will be livestreamed and captioned.

This event is part of Stand Up for Poetry, a Hunter regional poetry program presented by Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, and Port Stephens Libraries. It is an exciting series of poetry workshops, panels, spoken word showcases and slam heats across the Hunter region in 2020. For the safety and well-being of all participants safe-distancing and social gathering measures will be practiced and contact details for traceability in the future will be kept. All attendees will be reminded to follow safe physical distancing and health advice by keeping 1.5m apart, maintaining personal hygiene by regularly washing hands, and not attending if they feel unwell.
