Bees, Honey and Pollination
Lake Mac Libraries have made the decision provide a reduced online program of activities for STEAM Week in 2021.
We will ‘bee’ back bigger and better than ever in 2022.
We encourage you to participate in the planned online activities to ‘bee’ held on Wed 20 October 2021, bookings are essential please see below for details.
For the little busy bees
Print your own Busy Bee Activty Booklet(PDF, 12MB) or collect them from any of our library branches (once they have reopened). Learn more about bees and their role in supplying the food we eat and the clothes we wear through fun activities that will keep you a busy bee!

The Busy Bee and the Kind Sunflower
Watch local ‘One Stroke painting’ Artist Stephen Cassettari as he brings the story of ‘The Busy Bee and the Kind Sunflower’ to life through words and illustration by painting the story as he tells it.
Build your own bee hotel and Storytime
Join our educator for a bee themed storytime and to learn how to build your own bee hotel to attract solitary bees to your backyard.
About STEAM week
Lake Mac STEAM is a week-long program of inspiring learning experiences that are centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, ART and Maths that is held every year in conjunction with National Science Week.
Lake Mac Libraries celebrate and promote creativity, innovation and uniqueness through engaging events, festivals, exhibitions and programs for our community and visitors to our city. We actively encourage creative learning and experiences and recognise the importance of STEAM education and its ability to address common issues on a local and global scale. We are a member of HISH (Hunter Innovation and Science Hub) and we run a variety of STEAM activities and workshops in our libraries, our performing arts venues and museums throughout the year.
STEAM week 2022 dates will be 13- 21 August 2022.
