Lake Mac Libraries celebrate and promote creativity, innovation and uniqueness through engaging events, festivals, exhibitions and programs for our community and visitors to our city. We actively encourage creative learning and experiences and recognise the importance of STEAM education and its ability to address common issues on a local and global scale. We run a variety of STEAM activities and workshops in our libraries, our performing arts venues and art museum throughout the year.

15-22 August 2021

Lake Mac STEAM is a week-long program of inspiring learning experiences that are centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, ART and Maths that is held every year in conjunction with National Science Week. The central theme for 2021 National Science Week is Food: Different By Design. It will honour the United Nations International Year of Fruits and Vegetables and the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development. Sub-themes include bio-security, production, sustainable agriculture, laboratory foods, and food technology.

We are a member of HISH (Hunter Innovation and Science Hub) and are contributing to a larger program of events and activities based on the theme Bees, Honey, and Pollination' 2021. We have designed an engaging program of events that explores the 'business of bees' for every age, stage and interest.
