About Lake Mac Libraries

Lake Mac Libraries operates 10 physical branches throughout Lake Macquarie. 

We are committed to providing services, resources and programs to meet a diverse range of needs.

Join the library

  • Membership is free.
  • Residents and non-residents of Lake Macquarie can join.
  • Access all of our collections and services with one card.
  • Join online (below) or join over the counter at any Lake Mac Libraries' branch.
  • Bring along identification with your name and current address to complete your application. Under 16? Ask a parent of legal guardian to come with your and make sure they bring identification.

Membership Conditions

  • You can borrow 40 items.
  • Loan periods are four weeks for most items, or two weeks for popular items such as new titles, magazines, DVDs and CDs.
  • Items can be borrowed and returned to any Lake Mac Libraries’ branch.
  • Items can be reserved for free.

Online Member Services

Manage your Library account online where you can:

  • Extend the loan period of borrowed items.
  • View your loan history and currently borrowed items.
  • View and cancel reservations.
  • Request an item, or reserve an item via our online catalogue.
  • You must be 18 years and over to join online.
  • You can borrow 40 items.
  • Download the free Library App to manage your account from your phone!

3D Printing

  • A 3D printer is located at Belmont Library.
  • This printer can build models up to 12cm x 12cm x 12cm.
  • Printing costs $1.10 per ten minutes of use.
  • Create your own design online or download a pre-made model. Bring your 3D model into the Library on a USB flash drive - saved in the STL file format to be compatible with our printer.
  • Find inspiration at Thingiverse and design tools at Tinkercad and Google SketchUp.

Computers and Internet Access

Visit any of our branches to access free WiFi and use our public access internet computers.


Printing, Scanning and Photocopying

Print from our public access computers, scan documents to an email address or copy documents at any of our branches.

Home Library

The Home Library Service is a free delivery service provided to people who are unable to visit the Library themselves. This service is for people who:

  • Have a temporary or permanent disability.
  • Cannot visit the Library due to illness.
  • Do not have someone that can visit the library on their behalf.

The Home Library team will select, deliver and collect your Library materials on a monthly schedule. You will need to provide a medical certificate to support your application.
