Telescopes through time exhibition

stars-image.jpg

There is much conjecture over who first invented the telescope way back in the 1600’s. Galileo Galilei though, was the one who first took the invention used it for Astronomy. And every since generations have used these telescopes to explore the stars, the constellations, the planets, and discover the universe. Telescopes have not only been there to enable us to capture moments in history, their development and use has a history of its own.

Members of the Newcastle Astronomical Society collect, repair, restore and maintain historic telescopes. The Society will be putting them on display for the public. Come and see the advancements in these instruments that have brought the stars and the universe a little closer to us.
