In early April when it became evident that COVID19 would be an ongoing disruption to the lives of those living in residential aged care, the Whiddon Redhead Leisure and Lifestyle team embarked on an ambitious project to engage the residents in writing and starring in their own movie. Encouraged by the success of the first few sessions, the residents quickly began to look forward to each “script development workshop†and each week, the laughter and comradery grew and grew (as did the silliness of the script).
Rehearsals, costume suggestions, story boarding and writing sessions took place once or twice each week and were eagerly anticipated by the residents involved. Facilitated by Leisure and Lifestyle Manager, Grahame Cooper (an acclaimed local author and award-winning playwright) the script was given the full professional treatment. Eddie O'Reilly coordinated a fun week of filming and volunteered to take on the mammoth task of editing.
