Discover some of the intriguing souvenirs nurses and soldiers of the Great War brought home including a hand drawn menu for a celebratory meal, a concert program from a military hospital - the performance described as "the only known British atrocity at the Front" , a postcard in the style of May Gibbs on how women would be affected by the loss of a generation of men.
Christine Bramble is a regional historian whose interests include military nursing and hospitals in the Great War and Art Deco architecture and design. Her latest book, Matron Ida Greaves - 'a right daughter of Australia' was to be launched in 2020 but publication has been postponed to 2021 on account of COVID-19. Matron Greaves is the Australian hero you've hardly heard of (but should have).
