How to join the library

  • Membership is free.
  • Residents and non-residents of Lake Macquarie can join.
  • Access all of our collections and services with one card by completing the Online Application Form or visit any Lake Mac Libraries' branch.
  • Bring along identification with your name and current address to complete your application.
  • Under 16? Ask a parent of legal guardian to come with your and make sure they bring identification.

Self-access at Lake Mac Libraries

A new self-access service is now available at multiple Lake Mac Libraries branches. The service is available at: 

  • Belmont Library
  • Cardiff Library
  • Speers Point Library
  • Sugar Valley Library Museum
  • Wangi Library Creative Hub
  • Toronto Library

Self-access allows members to visit and use library services outside of regular staffed hours. These venues offer self-access daily from 7am-7pm.

Members must complete an induction before receiving self-access privileges. Inductions are available in-branch during staffed hours.

FAQ’s

  • You can borrow up to 40 items.
  • Loan periods are four weeks for most items, or two weeks for popular items such as new titles, magazines, DVDs and CDs.
  • Items can be borrowed from and returned to any Lake Mac Libraries' branch.
  • Items can be reserved for free.
  • You can manage your Library account online.
  • After hours return chutes are available at Belmont, Charlestown, Toronto, Speers Point, Cardiff, Morisset and Wangi Wangi Libraries.
