This exhibition came to be when a group of local creatives (some with NO previous experience) met weekly to capture the essence of Lake Macquarie through Urban Sketching.
Guided by arts educator Jade Perry, they explored their surroundings while learning skills and techniques using a range of drawing and other art materials.
Urban sketching is a global art movement that captures the world through on-location drawing. It can happen anywhere—cities, small towns, shopping centres. With quick, spontaneous lines and rough colouring, urban sketching serves as a visual diary of people, places, and moments, encouraging mindfulness and slowing down.
