In Something Else, Megan Farquhar invites viewers into a world where the boundaries blur, exploring themes of spirituality, fate, and transformation. A multidisciplinary artist based in Newcastle, originally from Queensland, Farquhar's recent practice has centred around pinhole photography and alternative photographic processes. This exhibition delves into deeply personal and mystical experiences, including pregnancy loss and encounters with unexplained forces, using these themes to investigate the hidden realms that shape our lives.

Through her ethereal, slow-exposure photographs, Farquhar creates a space for reflection on the in-between spaces of existence - the spaces where the unseen forces of fate, protection, and guidance may linger. Her work speaks for the fragility and resilience of the human spirit, offering a glimpse into the delicate threads that connect us to those we have lost, and to the unseen realms that may watch over us.

Something Else is a journey into the mysteries that surround us, urging viewers to engage with the unknown, the mystical, and the transformative forces that exist beyond the viable world. Farquhar's use of pinhole photography, with its otherworldly softness and long exposures, mirrors the themes of waiting, transformation, and the quiet space where life and death, hope and loss, co-exist. In this collection, she invites the audience to connect with the unseen forces that gently guide and protect, offering a profound meditation on resilience, connection, and the enduring mysteries of existence.
