About NCEATA
NCEATA (Newcastle Creative Embroiderers and Textile Artists Inc) is a collective founded in 1979 that unites nearly 50 women from the Hunter region. NCEATA fosters a vibrant community of textile artists, ranging from beginners to seasoned professionals, who come together to explore the world of colour, fibres, and innovative techniques in textile art.
With a keen interest in both traditional and contemporary methods, the members of NCEATA specialises in a diverse range of practices including embroidery, machine embellishment, dyeing, wet and dry felting, beading, and fabric painting, among others. The NCEATA artists continue to hone their craft, participating in workshops that expand their expertise and contribute to their artistic growth. Passionate about both fine art and wearable art, NCEATA embraces every opportunity to learn, create, and share their love for textile art with the wider community.
