Schools - Showcase your work at Launchpad

Lake Mac Libraries offers local school groups of all ages an opportunity to showcase a special project or artistic exhibition developed as part of a school program or project.

This is a great opportunity to let students showcase their creative abilities to a wider audience, and being located at Lake Mac Libraries, our Launchpad spaces offer students and educators excellent opportunities to develop and encourage interesting public programs.

Exhibition space is available at six Lake Mac Libraries branches across the city.

Launchpad@Lake Mac Libraries objectives for schools:

  • Present exhibitions that showcase the work of school students in all mediums
  • Act as a platform for creative dialogue by encouraging wider community participation in the arts
  • Provide students with an experience of preparing and installing an exhibition
  • Help students explore themes around nature, their environment, and their society while discovering and nurturing their artistic senses

Exhibition space is available at:

  • Toronto Library
  • Belmont Library
  • Charlestown Library
  • Wangi Creative Hub
  • Windale Library Hub (opening soon)
  • SEEN@Swansea

What we offer:

  • Free exhibition space – there is no application fee and no installation fee
  • Option to exhibit 2D works or 3D work, or both
  • Exhibition periods of up to 12 weeks
  • Advice and support throughout the application and preparation process
  • Installation assistance and support
  • Promotional support by featuring your exhibition on the Lake Mac Libraries website and What’s On pages
  • Support of a free event run by the artist or group
  • Lake Mac Library staff will supervise the exhibition, guide visitors to your show, and process sales during opening hours

As the exhibiting artist, you will:

  • Provide frames and hanging methods of artworks supplied – Lake Mac provides hanging wires and rails
  • up to five students and/or teacher attend the venue on two days to assist with and experience installation and take-down of the exhibition including preparation of signage, wall labels and copy for marketing
  • Organise, advertise, and present a free event of your choosing associated with your exhibition – an opening, a talk, a workshop
  • Be responsible for the insurance of the work during the period of exhibition
