Do you have a piece of art in your home that you want to display, take care of, or that needs a bit of care?

Join Silvia Da Rocha, a trained artefact conservator as she shares advice on caring for artworks in your collection. This session will cover topics such as where to hang artworks, handling mould outbreaks , storage, material identification, safe handling and more. This session is perfect for serious collectors to proud owners of that one special piece.

Attendees are welcome to bring a photograph of their collection if you would like specific advise from Silvia.


About Silvia Da Rocha

Silvia Da Rocha is a trained artefact conservator and has worked in museum collections in Australia and Europe since 2008. In 2011 she received a HLF Scholarship to train at the National Museum of Scotland, then worked in New Zealand on earthquake recovery, and has since worked in national collections and university collections. Some of her career highlights have included working on diverse treasures like the Macquarie collector’s chest, a giant whale beached found off the coast of Bantry in Ireland in the 19th Century, a WWI German war tank, and paintings from the Archibald Prize. Silvia now finds her home in the Hunter region, working to document and preserve the collection at the Sugar Valley Museum Library.

About Sugar Valley Library Museum

The Sugar Valley Library Museum is located at the Cameron Park Plaza complex, on Portland Drive Cameron Park. There is dedicated Museum parking and accessible parking available adjacent to the building. The venue has no steps and has accessible bathrooms. The venue is easily accessed by public buses.
