Volunteer Opportunity - Adult Literacy Volunteer Tutor Training

Lake Mac Libraries are introducing an Adult Literacy Volunteer Tutor Program.

There is great satisfaction in helping someone learn to read a newspaper, fill out a form, look for work, or write with confidence.

A good adult literacy tutor:

• is welcoming and treats the learner as an individual and an equal.
• is positive, and supportive and encourages learners to ask questions
• uses material that relates to the learner’s life experience and needs.

A prerequisite of volunteering at Lake Mac Libraries as a literacy tutor is the completion of the volunteer tutor training with Tafe. This is a free 8-week course starting on Monday 6 May.
